John Loxley, 1942-2020
John Loxley was the Manitoba Research Alliance’s first and long-time Principal Investigator and Project Director, instrumental in the success of multiple Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) grants. The 2020-2027 Community-Based Solutions to Poverty: Challenges and Possibilities grant was awarded a few months before his passing. His work lives on not only in the projects that have had a lasting impact and the mentorship he provided to countless academics, colleagues and friends, but with additional recognition by SSHRC. In December 2020, John was awarded a SSHRC Impact Award posthumously – you can find his profile on SSHRC’s website here.
